Think Different

Here’s to the crazy ones.
The misfits.
The rebels.
The troublemakers.
The round pegs in the square holes.
The ones who see things differently.
They’re not fond of rules.
And they have no respect for the status quo.
You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them.
About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them.
Because they change things.
They push the human race forward.
And while some see them as the crazy ones,
We see genius.
Because the people who are crazy enough to think
they can change the world,
Are the ones who do.

Ide nyari sesuatu tentang think different ini pertama kali kecetus pas ngeliat blog seorang teman tentang toko Apple di Kuwait yang sekarang cuma tinggal sejarah, dan salah satu sejarah yang tersisa adalah Tag line 'Think Different' dari Apple.

Kata-kata diawal tulisan ini adalah intro setiap pemunculan iklan Think Different dari Apple di akhir tahun 90-an. Kata-kata yang menggambarkan mereka-mereka, tokoh-tokoh yang 'beda' dan memberi dampak pada kehidupan 'because the change things'. Mereka itu adalah Albert Einstein, Bob Dylan, Martin Luther King, Jr., Richard Branson, John Lennon, R. Buckminster Fuller, Thomas Edison, Muhammad Ali, Ted Turner, Maria Callas, Mahatma Gandhi, Amelia Earhart, Alfred Hitchcock, Martha Graham, Jim Henson (with Kermit the Frog), Frank Lloyd Wright and Pablo Picasso.

Terlepas dari mereka yang dimunculkan di comercial ads tersebut, menurut saya munculnya tag line 'Think Different' itu tidak lepas dari product Apple yang selalu beda dan semangat baru yang dibawa orang orang besar dibelakang semua perbedaan itu yaitu Steve Jobs. Buktinya iklan tersebut muncul tidak lama setelah Steve Jobs kembali memimpin Apple pada maret 1998 setelah berhenti Mei 1985. Jauh sebelum revolusi iPhone, ipod, Steve Jobs adalah seseorang dibelakang revolusi Personal Computer (PC), terciptanya sistem internet world wide web yang ada didepan kita sekarang ini, development ethernet port, Digital Signal Processor (DSP) dan lainnya.

Moga tulisan ini bisa jadi inspirasi bagi yang ngebaca untuk memulai sesuatu yang beda, apapun bentuknya. Saya sendiri selalu berharap bisa selalu memberikan suatu yang beda atau melihat dari sudut pandang yang berbeda akan segala sesuatu melalui tulisan-tulisan disini. Be ur self and think different.
